10 Promises About Waiting With Expectation

What do you do when you have tarried in prayer and you haven’t had any answers from God? Do you wait? Or do you give up? Do you move on? Or you just go with your permissive will?

Between the time of praying and the time your prayers are answered, there is phase called the Waiting Phase. While waiting, just like Habakkuk, Abraham and many others did, we need to put ourselves in the best position possible to hear from God. Not only do you wait, you wait with expectation.

Also, let me clear, God’s response to our prayer is either; Yes, No or Wait. That’s why it is imperative to hear from to know when to move on if His response is a “No“. If His response is a “Yes“, sometimes it may be slow in coming but wait!

When you bring your requests before God, are patient to wait expectantly for Him to speak to you. God is faithful and “not one word of all the good words which the Lord your God has promised concerning you has failed; all have been fulfilled for you, not one of them has failed“. Trust Him!

10 Promises about Waiting

  1. Habakkuk 2:2-3 – MSG
‘And then God answered: “Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run. This vision-message is a witness pointing to what’s coming. It aches for the coming—it can hardly wait! And it doesn’t lie. If it seems slow in coming, wait. It’s on its way. It will come right on time.’

  2. Psalms 130:5-7 – AMP
‘I wait [patiently] for the Lord , my soul [expectantly] waits, And in His word do I hope. My soul waits for the Lord More than the watchmen for the morning; More than the watchmen for the morning. O Israel, hope in the Lord ; For with the Lord there is lovingkindness, And with Him is abundant redemption.’

  3. Joshua 23:14 – AMP
‘“Now behold, today I am going the way of all the earth, and you know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one word of all the good words which the Lord your God has promised concerning you has failed; all have been fulfilled for you, not one of them has failed.

  4. Joshua 21:45 – AMP
‘Not one of the good promises which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel failed; all had come to pass.’

  5. Psalms 5:3 – NLT
‘Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord . Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.’

  6. Hebrews 6:15 – TPT
‘So Abraham waited patiently in faith and succeeded in seeing the promise fulfilled.’

  7. Psalms 62:5 – TPT
‘I am standing in absolute stillness, silent before the one I love, waiting as long as it takes for him to rescue me. Only God is my Savior, and he will not fail me.’

  8. Proverbs 23:17-18 – AMP
Do not let your heart envy sinners [who live godless lives and have no hope of salvation], But [continue to] live in the [reverent, worshipful] fear of the Lord day by day. Surely there is a future [and a reward], And your hope and expectation will not be cut off. ‘

  9. Philippians 1:20 – AMP
‘It is my own eager expectation and hope, that [looking toward the future] I will not disgrace myself nor be ashamed in anything, but that with courage and the utmost freedom of speech, even now as always, Christ will be magnified and exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. ‘

  10. Philippians 3:20-21 – MSG
‘But there’s far more to life for us. We’re citizens of high heaven! We’re waiting the arrival of the Savior, the Master.

Final thoughts

As impatient as I am, I don’t know about you, it is always hard to wait. However, if you trust the Giver then ultimately you should be able to trust His timing – His appointed time as well.

Personally, I am in a waiting phase and I have basically surrendered my requests before God and waiting with faith and expectantly for answers to my prayers.

I don’t know how long it’s going to take but I am definitely trusting the Lord who “plans to prosper me and not to harm me, plans to give me hope and a future“. I must admit, all I have got to do is lay my bed in/on the promises of God in these trying times. He is literally all I got now!

Declaration

Give us patience as we wait Your appointed times and may we occupy wisely as we wait for the fulfilment of Your plans and purposes in lives. We receive the patience, diligence, and humility we need to wait for your appointed time. Though the answers to our prayers may tarry, it will surely come to pass. This is our faith and expectation and we believe it in Jesus' name. Amen 🙏.
